Payment Options

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Switch, Solo cards (manually charged in GB pounds). We accept direct Paypal payments.

If you wish to pay by Cheque or Money Order in either GB Pounds from a UK bank account, or US Dollars from a US bank account, we accept that too.

Obviously, we accept our own Gift Certificates.

We will accept cash (Pounds, Dollars or Euros) but you send it entirely at your own risk.

We do not accept Cheques or MOs in Euros or any other currency.

Products

All our products are bought by us, direct from the manufacturers. They are first quality as selected by the manufacturer. We examine all items at our packaging stage as an extra quality control. We do not want you to be disappointed!

Any products sold as Bargains or Clearance are as described in the item details.

Shipping

We get more enquiries about shipping than anything else!

We ship 99% via ordinary mail services. It is by far the cheapest and perfectly reliable and safe. However, sometimes the Post Office can cause confusion.

Airmail : Usually will be delivered worldwide in around 7 working days. Though any security scare or similar may add time. We would consider airmail to have failed after about 3 weeks.

Surface Mail : This is the service that causes the most confusion.

Surface usually takes between 6 weeks and 8 weeks to arrive in USA or Canada. Parcels to Australia and New Zealand often take up to 12 weeks or more. However, very often parcels will get 'upgraded' to airmail by the Post Office if they have space in an air container at that time. This is an entirely random thing and always causes confusion when one parcel arrives early and others do not. Although your items are shipped together on the same day at the same time, they ALWAYS get split up in the postal system and are treated individually. Rest assured that your remaining item(s) will be still on the way and will arrive.

We would not consider a US/ Canada surface item lost until after about 10 weeks.

We try to pack every item to withstand the Post Office playing football with it and breakages are extremely rare.

We will pack suitable items together but only up to a certain value and weight (2 Kilograms). By doing this, we ensure that your parcels slip through the customs net of MOST countries (unfortunately not Canada, sorry!). We have only had ONE US customer report being charged any duty and that was on a large parcel by carrier, not PO.

If you order several items from us you will receive a succession of parcels. It does seem odd but please believe us that it is the cheapest way!!

Cancel Order

We are happy to cancel (or alter) any order that has not been shipped. BUT please be aware of International time differences because we may have packed and shipped your order whilst you are asleep. We move quite fast and items ordered during your evening may be packed, charged and gone by the time you wake up the next day!

If you manage to duplicate an order or make a mistake with multiple items etc. Please email immediately. We process orders manually and will detect obvious duplicates and either ignore or email you for confirmation.

Other errors may be harder for us to spot. Some customers do buy 6 teapots of the same design!!

Returns

We realise that you may change your mind after you receive an item. If you wish to return something, please email us for advice, we may be able to save you money.

We accept returns in new, unsed condition, sent back to us. We will then refund the full cost of the item. Shipping is not refundable.

Problems

Nobody likes problems. Fortunately we have very few. Should you be unfortunate enough to have trouble with any part of our service then please email us directly and tell us. We will endeavor to sort out any problems to your satisfaction.

Much of our business is from repeat customers and we value that relationship.

Sales Tax (VAT)

We are a VAT registered business. That means we must charge sales tax (currently 17.5%) on ALL sales to customers with a DELIVERY address that is inside the European Union.

Fortunately, everywhere else outside Europe is exempt from paying this tax.

Valuations, dating, information etc.

We are not experts on old or antique china. We have a knowledge of the current pottery industry and we sell it's products. We can answer questions about our stock and related things.

We cannot date, value or give history of items. We would use Steve Birk's website for this type of information (www.thepotteries.org). It is packed with potteries information, has searchable pottery/makers index etc. Please try there, it is the best we know.
