We
are happy to give advice and answer questions about our current products. We have no information about older Sadler teapots as the company went bust a few years ago and there are no records available of designs/patterns.
However,
we CANNOT give valuations or answer general queries about all china and
pottery products from the Staffordshire region as we simply don't know!!
Trying
to value or date your Great, Great Grandma's favourite chamber pot can
be very difficult.
A few
helpful suggestions :-
The
most important information about your item is the bottom stamp or mark.
This is often your only clue.
Staffordshire
is the name of our county (Staffordshire china = Texas oil) it is a general
term for items from this region. There never was a manufacturer called 'Staffordshire China' If your item has that on the base then it simply means it was made in this area by any one of hundreds of companies. Your base stamp may have a company name or trade mark or it may not.
There
have been hundreds of companies, large and small, manufacturing here over
the years.
Your
task is to match your item's bottom stamp with a known maker.
The
best resource we know is a site by Steve Birks ( www.thepotteries.org
) it has a search function and loads of historical info.
The
other resource to use is www.Ebay.com There you can search for similar
items and compare with yours.
Good
Luck!
